In a recent interview with Game Informer, the chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios said that the company was “open for business” when it comes to cross-play between PlayStation 4 and other consoles. The makers of games like Smite and Wargroove say that’s not the case.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines, Vice President of the giant gaming company, surprisingly commented on the publisher’s upcoming multiplayer spin-off title in the Fallout universe, Fallout 76. According to Hines, Fallout 76 will not support any form of cross-play functionality and furthermore there are no plans to add such a feature.

Fallout 76 does not support crossplay, for a number of reasons. I have no idea if it ever will. But I assure you it is not on our radar right now as we focus on B.E.T.A. and Launch.

Thanks to an extended Fortnite cross-play beta that launches on PlayStation 4 sometime today, Android players will finally be able to team up with their PS4 buddies. Cross-play is, of course, a feature that’s already available to Android users, but now that Sony is finally concentrating on cooperating with competing gaming platforms, everyone can finally play together.
