In addition to providing fast and frequent updates, OnePlus is becoming one of the most communicative Android phone manufacturers: It’s actually hearing and responding to requests for new features. Back in May, the company spoke out about reported issues and a handful of community requests for the 7 Pro — things like wide-angle video support, and an always-on display — and today it’s providing further updates about those requests, as well as others.

A few days ago, the beastly OnePlus 7 Pro got an OS update to fix a few issues and make some improvements to camera performance, and now it’s little sibling is getting the same treatment. The company is starting to push the OxygenOS 9.5.5 update to the smaller OnePlus 7, and it includes the latest security patch and a number of other enhancements.
It goes without saying that there are some general bug fixes, but the most attention appears to have been given to the camera.

For every major market except the United States, a new OnePlus phone is available for purchase today. The OnePlus 7 is very much an updated 6T (a 6Tt, if you will), but I found the upgrades to be worthwhile when I tested the phone for my review, especially considering the price is the same.
Sure, the cameras are still not on par with the leading camera phones of the day — such as the Huawei P30 Pro or Google Pixel 3 — but the new 48MP main camera is the best OnePlus has ever used and its processing is improving all the time.

Due to the Netflix app’s use of DRM and other restrictive technologies, not every Android phone or tablet can automatically watch movies and shows in HD. In most cases, Netflix has to certify each device for HD playback, and run additional tests to make sure HDR works. The company has now certified 23 new phones and tablets for HD playback, and brought HDR compatibility to a handful of phones.
